We're so screwed! I put Grady to bed in his crib last night as usual, then was talking to Rick in the kitchen about 10 minutes later, and guess who comes trotting in with a big grin on his face? The little monkey climbed out of the crib, twice! The second time we were in our bedroom and the door pops open and there he is. 18 months old. Just throws a leg up on the top of the crib like its a balance beam and hoists himself onto his belly, then lowers himself down until he can drop to the floor. Maybe he'll be an Olympic gymnast. Or Hollywood stuntman. Or cat burglar/jewel thief.

I remember the first time Ingrid did that at about the same age. It was time to move Scott to the larger crib then and Ingrid to a bed. It is interesting how they manage to tell you that they are ready for the transition.
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law had a kid who did that. She bought this mesh zip-up thing-a-ma-jig that is specially made to fit the top of a baby crib to keep the kid in. Sort of turns it into a fun little tent...or tiny prison...depending on how you look at it. Anyway, it gave her some peace of mind after one day at 5:00am she heard a noise that woke her up and then found her 18 month old sitting on the kitchen counter cutting an apple with biggest knife in the house!
ReplyDeleteOH......MY.......GOD......Gavin is really good at climbing out. Liesl has been "transitioned" a long time......well she never really slept in there......
